Education and Career Guidance
Education and Career Guidance (ECG) at GDLS aims to equip our students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values, to make decisions for successful transition from school to further education or work.
The programmes under GDLS ECG Framework will enable our students to:

Explore viable education and career options through the provision of accurate and comprehensive information.

Nurture self-awareness, self-directedness and lifeskills to set wise goals, so that they will continually learn and add value to their future workplace.

Inculcate an appreciation for the value of all occupations and how they contribute to the well-functioning of society.

Careers Day for Secondary 3 students
To provide a platform for students to explore post-secondary options through:

listening to alumni, currently in post-secondary institutions
-
exploring possible pathways that they can consider after listening to alumni sharing;
-
exploring the work-related simulators;
-
gathering information from listening to the professional sharing on two careers of choice;

Understanding the different ideal worlds that can apply to careers of interest via the CCE Worlds lesson.
Alumni sharing – via gathering according to stream and listening together online from our alumi students about their current post-secondary institutions, format of education after secondary school and how they applied.

Experience ITE Programme
Institute of Technical Education (ITE) organises a full-day Experience ITE Programme (EIP) for our

Secondary 3 students taking Normal (Academic) subjects and

Secondary 2 students taking more subjects at G2.
Through this programme, students will tour the ITE campus and gain an overview of its programmes and courses. This experience aims to help students make informed decisions about their post-secondary education pathways.

Work Experience Programme
The Work Experience Programme is a 5-day experiential learning opportunity designed for Secondary 3 students to deepen their understanding of the skills needed by professionals in the workplace. The objective of the programme is for students to discover their strengths and acquire new skills that are necessary to pursue their dream careers in industries of their choice. Students who applied are selected based on interviews and recommendations from their Class Mentors and Year Heads, and are assigned to different organisations to experience different professions in real life over 1 week in the 1st week of November yearly.

ECG Counselling Service
Our ECG Counsellor, Mr Marcus Wong, supports students (individually or in small groups) by exploring their interests and strengths, and addressing their concerns or questions about education options and career exploration. Students may make an appointment with him through the following form below, or contact him through email.
